UNTERFÖHRING (dpa-AFX) - Matthias Opdenhovel will continue to present for ProSiebenSat.1 in the coming years. The listed media group in Unterfohring near Munich informed Deutsche Presse-Agentur on Wednesday that the exclusive contract with the 53-year-old for ProSieben, Sat.1 and the streaming platform Joyn has been extended by several years. Opdenhovel is one of the best-known TV presenters in Germany, especially among younger audiences. He is also known to an audience of millions through his presentations of sports programs.

According to the broadcaster, Opdenhovel will continue to present major shows such as the music celebrity format "The Masked Singer", "Schlag den Star", "The Tribute" and the quiz format "Hast Du Tone?". The presenter will also accompany all top-class soccer matches for "#ranFussball".

ProSiebenSat.1 manager Henrik Pabst, who is responsible for all content on Joyn, ProSieben and Sat.1, said that Opdenhovel is an "important confidant" for viewers.

It was only recently announced that Opdenhovel would replace his TV colleague Elton on the series "Schlag den Star" on June 1. The long-standing collaboration between ProSieben and Elton, who also works for rival RTL, came to an end. Opdenhovel is thus returning to the show after 13 years. He had already hosted "Schlag den Raab" from 2006 to 2011 and "Schlag den Star" in 2010.

Opdenhovel is one of the best-known TV faces at ProSiebenSat.1. Other main draws for ProSieben are the entertainers Joko and Klaas. Opdenhovel was one of the presenters who was able to use the former TV music channel "Viva" as a springboard. He also worked for public television until summer 2021, presenting the ARD sports program "Sportschau." /rin/DP/zb
