Ampla Energia announced earnings results for the second quarter of 2013. For the quarter, the company reported unveiled a 69.4% annual rise in its second quarter 2013 net profit, to BRL 103 million (USD 44.7 million/EUR 33.8 million). Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 22.7% in annual terms, to BRL 242 million.

The distributor's investments went down by 6.9% to BRL 104 million. The bulk of BRL 41 million was allocated for new connections. The result coincided with a 3.3% expansion in Ampla's distribution base to 2.75 million consumers.

Net operating revenue hit BRL 1.84 billion, up 2.3% on the corresponding period last year.
