RTL reports continued strong growth of its streaming services RTL+ and Videoland: the number of paying subscribers rose 30.3 percent year-on-year in the third quarter to 6.2 million, with streaming revenue up 2 percent in the January to September 2023 period.

Streaming earned RTL 236 million euros in the first nine months. A year earlier, that figure was 195 million.

Yet this growth did not contribute to the overall result. Group revenues fell 10.3 percent to 1.6 billion euros in the period due to lower TV advertising revenues; TV advertising revenues fell 3.7 percent compared to 12.5 percent in the first quarter.

Due to the continued weakness of TV advertising markets, particularly in Germany, RTL Group now expects its TV advertising revenues to decline further in the second half of 2023 (previous forecast: "stable to slightly growing") and producer Fremantle's full-year revenues to be lower than expected.

Despite the increase in market share in Germany and measures to control costs, RTL Group now expects revenue of about €6.9 billion for 2023 (previous forecast: about €8 billion) and adjusted EBITA of about €900 million (previous forecast: about €950 million).
