Inga Leschek will take on the role of Chief Content Officer in addition to her current position as Programme Managing Director RTL & RTL+. As Chief Content Officer, she will be responsible for all content across RTL Deutschland's TV channels (RTL, Vox, NTV, RTL Super and multi-channel), all content on streaming service RTL+, and all journalistic content and digital platforms from RTL News (excluding Stern+). Inga will take over the role from CEO Stephan Schmitter, who currently holds the position in addition to his CEO responsibilities.
By appointing Inga Leschek as Chief Content Officer, Stephan Schmitter is continuing to drive the successful transformation of RTL Deutschland and the fast expansion of the streaming service RTL+.
Stephan Schmitter, CEO of RTL Deutschland, says: "Since her return to RTL Deutschland, Inga Leschek has impressed us with her great content and creative qualities. Under her leadership, RTL has not only been able to significantly increase its audience shares and market leadership in all target groups up to the age of 59, but RTL+ is also continuing its success story with great momentum and is already by far the largest national streaming service - in front of and behind the paywall. Inga is a great addition to our Management Board and together, we will put all our energy into realising our strategic goals by 2030: Firstly, to maximise optimisation of linear reach to continue to offer our advertising clients highly attractive environments. Secondly, to drive the transformation of our content and business on RTL+ with great creativity and consistency to expand our position as the market-leading streaming service for the best entertainment content in German-speaking countries. I look forward to tackling both together with Inga, and positioning RTL Deutschland for the future in the best possible way."
Inga Leschek, Programme Managing Director RTL & RTL+ and incoming Chief Content Officer, says: "I would like to thank Stephan Schmitter and the entire Management Board for the trust they have placed in me and my strong team for our very successful collaboration to date. RTL Deutschland's content and channels are our company's most valuable assets, allowing us to stay ahead in the fierce competition for attention. Whether with journalism, sport, fiction or entertainment, we want to continue to captivate our audience and start conversations about our programmes throughout Germany. The smart interplay of our impressive variety of content across all distribution channels that are available to us across linear, non-linear and digital makes us unique and makes my job the most exciting I can imagine in this market. I am very much looking forward to this, and am very optimistic about our future."
BiographyInga Leschek took over as Programme Managing Director RTL & RTL+ in March 2023, having previously been Director Nonfiction at streaming service Netflix, where she was responsible for non-fiction content in the German-speaking and Central and Eastern European regions. Before joining Netflix in October 2023, Inga was Managing Director at the production companies RTL Studios and 99pro media, which she successfully merged in 2020. Under her leadership, successful formats such as Ninja Warrior, Guidos Deko Queen and Are you the one? were produced. Prior to joining RTL Deutschland in 2013, Inga worked at the production company Tresor TV, where she was Managing Director for Austria since 2005 and Germany since 2010. Previously, she was an executive of the advertising film production company Neue Sentimental Film, production manager at ORF and production manager for the commercial broadcaster ATV.
