METabolic Explorer has reported further losses in 2022, with the green chemicals group explaining that the climate of crisis has affected its animal nutrition business.

Its Ebitda for the year just ended thus stands at -29.8 million euros, compared with -2.4 million in 2021 proforma, in line with previously communicated forecasts
.

The Group points out that this deterioration mainly concerns the animal nutrition segment, as the worsening of the health, geopolitical and energy crises has impacted sales volumes downwards and the prices of
raw materials upwards.

MetEx says it expects to achieve consolidated sales of 226.6 million euros in 2022, up 34% on 2021.

Although the year was marked by an almost 36% drop in sales volumes, this decline was partly offset by a general price increase for its products, it explains in a press release.

At around 2:00 pm, the share price was down more than 4%, one of the biggest declines on the Paris Bourse on Friday.

To explain the share's decline, analysts at Invest Securites pointed to the absence of any quantified forecasts for the new financial year.

"Management has not communicated any quantified guidance for 2023, against a backdrop of 'a recovery in activity in a contrasting and fluctuating context'", the brokerage said in a reaction note.

The group simply explained that it expected a return to good momentum in the animal nutrition segment with the NoovaLife range, and in the detergents and biopolymers segment.

According to Invest, the consensus forecast for 2023 is sales of 281 million euros, with an Ebitda of -4 million euros.
