Guararapes Confecções S.A. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2023. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was BRL 613.51 million compared to BRL 588.25 million a year ago. Revenue was BRL 2,138.9 million compared to BRL 2,154.28 million a year ago. Net loss was BRL 17.62 million compared to net income of BRL 26.38 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was BRL 0.04 compared to basic earnings per share from continuing operations of BRL 0.05 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was BRL 1,220.86 million compared to BRL 1,136.47 million a year ago. Revenue was BRL 3,966 million compared to BRL 3,890.19 million a year ago. Net loss was BRL 193.28 million compared to BRL 53.76 million a year ago. Basic loss per share from continuing operations was BRL 0.39 compared to BRL 0.11 a year ago.
Guararapes Confeccoes SA is a Brazil-based company primarily engaged in the fashion industry. The Company is involved in the manufacture, wholesale, retail and export of clothing and fabrics, as well as in the import and wholesale of footwear, bath and table linens, perfumes and cosmetics, among others. The Company's activities are divided into three business segments: Retail, which focuses on selling apparel and other goods through stores network under the Lojas Riachuelo brand name; Finance, which offers consumer loans granted through credit cards, and Other, which includes commercial real estate rental and management, as well as road trucking, among others. The Company operates through a number of subsidiaries, such as Lojas Riachuelo SA, Midway Shopping Center Ltda, Midway SA - Credito Financiamento e Investimento and Transportadora Casa Verde Ltda.
