Esso: maintenance operations at Fos-sur-Mer
'These operations have been prepared in such a way as to limit nuisances of all kinds. Nevertheless, episodes of flaring and noise may be observed intermittently from January 20, 2024 for about a week', the company states.
This major scheduled shutdown will enable the implementation of numerous energy efficiency and thermal integration projects to reduce CO2 emissions and thus pave the way for the decarbonization of activities.
Esso's Fos-sur-Mer refinery has an annual refining capacity of around seven million tonnes of crude oil per year, employs around 300 people and invests around 20 million per year (on average over the last five years).
