Engie announced on Thursday evening that it plans to invest up to four billion euros in energy transition in Belgium by 2030.

The group - which has set itself the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045 - intends in particular to accelerate the development of renewable energies, aiming for between two and 2.5 GW of installed capacity by 2030.

Engie - which points out that demand for green energy already exceeds available local supply - indicates that this situation will only worsen in the coming years.

The company intends to double its onshore wind capacity to 1 GW, expand its offshore wind capacity to 1 GW by 2030, and triple its photovoltaic capacity to 300 MW.

As part of this new strategy, dubbed #Energize2030, Engie is also looking to develop new assets, such as an 875MW gas-fired power plant in Flémalle and a 200 MW battery park in Vilvoorde.

In addition to these priorities, Engie reiterates its intention to extend the operation of the Doel 4 and Tihange 3 nuclear power plants, while proceeding with the decommissioning of its other nuclear power plants.
