• After the success of the first year of support for the Jardín de las Delicias Festival and Tour, Endesa is expanding its line of musical sponsorship with new events: This coming Thursday with the Mallorca Live Festival (18-20 May), the Cruïlla in Barcelona (5-8 July) and the Zaragoza Zity Space from 6 to 14 October.
  • Endesa already enjoys a consolidated presence in the world of basketball, so it is extending its sponsorship strategy with purpose by ensuring an increasingly prominent presence in live music, contributing its experience to make concerts more sustainable and inclusive.
  • The measures range from a reduction of emissions, waste and plastics to the re-use of materials, promotion of electric mobility and placing the emphasis on local artistic talent and nearby suppliers.

Chemical Brothers and Quevedo in Mallorca, Placebo and Amaia in Barcelona, Melendi and Vetusta Morla in Madrid, Lola Indigo and Pablo López in Zaragoza and new talents such as Marlena and Paul Alone in Seville. These are just a few of the names and cities that can be enjoyed on the 2023 festival route that, with the support of Endesa, adds kilometres and new events to take the sustainable commitment of its sponsorship to even more points in Spain. If in 2022 the new feature was the Festival Jardín de las Delicias and the creation of the corresponding Tour, in 2023 Endesa is maintaining that commitment and expanding the number of events with a common purpose: To help the festival sector on the path it is embarking on towards sustainability. With this support, Endesa seeks to be closer to society and to improve the experience of music lovers, especially the younger ones.

So from Thursday 18 and until Saturday 20, the Mallorca Live Festival opens the festival calendar with Endesa's presence consisting of its own stage with 12 groups and a significant presence of local talent. The festival is an ally of the island in its commitment to promoting the diversificationof what it offers to tourists and to raising the quality, and together with the company will place special emphasis on sustainability by taking measures including the following: 60 waste collection points, drinking water fountains, shuttle-buses to help the public arrive by collective transport and an activation zone that will also "go on tour": It will be built with recycled materials that will also be re-used throughout the year in the next events with the presence of Endesa.

Sustainability and inclusion that will also play a leading role at the 2023 Cruïlla Festival, at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, from 5 to 8 July. This event, with a line up including leading groups, together with other cultural experiences such as comedy and gastronomy, will soon announce a detailed sustainability plan to make your experience the perfect union between enjoyment and environmental awareness.

A theme that will travel with the tour and from 6 to 14 October will arrive at the Zaragoza Zity Space which will be a blend of Spanush and international artists making the capital of the Aragón region the capital of music and popular culture during the Fiestas del Pilar. And all this with the same commitment to sustainability.

Jardín de las Delicias Festival and Tour

To these essential events for any festival-goer or, simply for anyone wanting to have some fun, we should add the Jardín de las Delicias Festival and Tour, a musical experience to which the company made a commitment in 2022 and it has been renewed this year. The tour will travel through Andalusia with stops in Seville (3 June), Cádiz (29 July) and Granada on a date in autumn still to be confirmed. There will be two stops in Madrid, on 22 June, with some great surprises that will be announced shortly, and, of course, the Festival itself, which will take place in Madrid on 22 and 23 September as the great closing event of the musical summer in Spain.

The common denominator for all these events in the calendar, according to María Lacasa, Endesa's brand and sponsorship Manger, will be "to create new experiences for the fans attending these festivals and, above all, to commit to sustainability". For Ms Lacasa, "it is a change of mentality that is now unstoppable: This is what the public is asking for and festivals are increasingly demanding, and that means incorporating plans and improving the measures taken year after year". A clear example of this is electric mobility: "Last year in Madrid, 4,000 people used our free electric bus and in February in Badalona 5,000 did the same for the street concerts scheduled during the basketball Copa del Rey. The areas where the festival takes place will also be cared for by recycling, reducing emissions and compensating for those that are inevitable."

Sponsorship and purpose

This is how the company puts into practice its line of sponsorship with purpose that, for María Lacasa, means "going well beyond the presence of the logo. More than 10 years ago we saw basketball as a very powerful tool to contribute to a better society. Once sponsorship in that area had been consolidated, we saw that we could make the leap towards music and festivals, which feature collective experiences, emotion and joy, together with awareness of the natural and social environment".

This vision of sustainability takes into account the environment and also people. These events have included measures to prioritise contracting local, nearby suppliers, they include local artists and emerging talent as much as possible, as well as making inclusion and diversity a palpable reality.

This support by the sector for sustainability is also beginning to be applied to venues such as the WiZink Centre, one of the most important multipurpose venues in Europe. Endesa is now a sustainable sponsor of the venue and has also signed two agreements to ensure that, as far as possible, the energy for all kinds of sporting and musical events should be 100% green. This will become a reality as a result of a supply contract for electricity from renewable sources and the installation of a large photovoltaic solar plant on the roof of the installation.

All this means that there is now a new way of approaching culture and music and, at the same time, of attracting a young audience. This is an objective that Endesa shares with the Palau de la Música Catalana, an entity that Endesa has supported for many years, a collaboration that in the last four years has focussed specifically on the Palau Digital initiative, which makes music available to people of all ages and tastes. The platform offers exclusive content such as interviews, live and recorded concerts and other informative content regarding the world of music and culture.
