April 23 (Reuters) - Wafer processing equipment supplier ASM International (ASMI) on Tuesday reported better than expected first-quarter orders.

The Dutch company's orders rose to 697.9 million euros ($746 million) over the first quarter, against a 658 million euro analyst consensus provider by researcher Visible Alpha. ($1 = 0.9355 euros) (Reporting by Nathan Vifflin in Gdansk Editing by David Goodman)
