Amoéba climbed almost 10% on the Paris Bourse on Tuesday, after announcing "convincing" results concerning the possible use of its amoeba lysate for cosmetic applications.

As part of its search for new applications, the biotech said it had unexpectedly discovered that the lysate of Willaertia magna C2c Maky could be of cosmetic interest, a position validated by two studies carried out by specialized laboratories.

This amoeba lysate could be used as a cosmetic ingredient for cosmetic purposes such as protection against skin cell death, cell renewal, UV protection, or protection against photoaging.

Amoéba points out that these effects have led it to file a patent to protect the use of lysate in the cosmetics market, a fast-growing industry that is being challenged by the chemical origin and health and environmental impact of its ingredients.

Until now, Amoéba's biological solutions have focused on markets such as industrial cooling towers, biocontrol for plant protection and fungicides.

Following these announcements, Amoéba's share price rose by 9.5% on Tuesday on the Paris Bourse.
