The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Thursday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. The loonie was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.3753 to the greenback, or 72.71 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3743 to 1.3778. Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 0.8 basis points to 3.709%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.5977%. U.S. May crude futures rose 20 cents to $82.89 a barrel on Thursday.
