Veidekke has entered into an agreement with GC Rieber Eiendom to construct an environmentally certified commercial building where Norconsult will be the largest tenant.

The contract is a turnkey contract with interaction worth NOK 241 million excl. VAT.

We greatly appreciate being able to continue the good collaboration with GC Rieber Eiendom from the construction of hotel Viken Brygge (Moxy Bergen), which will be the nearest neighbour. The project has very high environmental ambitions, and it is something we really enjoy building. We thank you so much for the assignment, says district manager Thor Smabrekke in Veidekke Bygg Bergen.

The project has been named Fenderen and will have a unique location at the water's edge in the heart of Solheimsviken in Bergen. The building will be made of solid wood and will have three floors plus a basement of a total of approximately 7,800 m 2 and will have an energy mix of solar cells, electricity, district heating and seawater. The design and choice of materials have been made to ensure sustainability throughout the building's lifetime from construction to the possibility of rebuilding and reuse of building parts during demolition. The building must be classified according to the standard BREEAM Outstanding (Paris Proof).

Fenderen is the third solid wood building for GC Rieber Eiendom and is being built in the innovation district in Solheimsviken. We see it as an important part of our social mission to bring together actors from academia, service providers, business clusters, public administration and start-ups, and create good working conditions and meeting places for the employees, says managing director Tor Instanes of CG Rieber Eiendom.

Commencement of the construction and foundation works is planned for the transition between May and June with completion in March 2026. Read more about the project here .
