RIU opens its seventh hotel in Jamaica: the Riu Palace Aquarelle

• With a total of 753 rooms, this 24-hour all-inclusive hotel is the first to offer swim-up suites on the first floor to give guests the best views
• The new hotel is a benchmark of sustainability thanks to the photovoltaic panels installed on the building's roof, which will lead to significant savings in terms of the hotel's energy consumption

The Riu Palace Aquarelle is the RIU Hotels & Resorts chain's first establishment in Falmouth, the capital of Trelawny parish, just 35 minutes from Montego Bay airport and two hours from Kingston. The new 5-star, 24-hour all-inclusive hotel has a total of 753 rooms and is the ideal choice for families or groups of friends thanks to its 180 triple rooms and 26 family suites. The swim-up suites on the first floor offer unbeatable panoramic views of the Caribbean to give guests an even more romantic stay.
When they step through the doorway of their room at the Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle, guests will find a tastefully decorated, spacious and bright area that is equipped with everything they need to enjoy a comfortable stay. Earthy colours and organic motifs play a starring role, with simple furniture and decoration. But by far the best thing about this new hotel are the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea from virtually every room to give guests a truly unforgettable experience.

In the restaurant area, the six restaurants offer a wide range of dining options: the main buffet "White Bay", the gourmet restaurant "Krystal", the Italian restaurant "Napoli", the Asian restaurant "Kyoto", the grill "Steakhouse" and the jerk style grill "Pepe's food". Guests can enjoy the all-inclusive service in any of the hotel's five bars: the lobby bar "Daiquiri" that serves the best cocktails, the patisserie and ice cream parlour "Capuchino", the pool bar "Marley", the swim-up bar "Kingston", the lounge bar "Ska" and and the new Sports bar 'American country', featuring the new 'All-American favourites' menu available 24 hours a day.

Outside, guests will be able to enjoy up to four pools in addition to direct access to the enormous White Bay beach from the hotel. They will also have wellness and beauty services available at Renova Spa. The new Riu Palace Aquarelle also has a children's pool with slides and the Splash Water World water park, which has several water attractions to ensure that the whole family has a great time on the wide variety of slides.

Falmouth is a town of great historical and cultural importance. It was founded in 1769 and flourished thanks to its role in the sugar and rum trade. Its colonial architecture, museums, markets and churches bear witness to its great past. The town also boasts the enormous White Bay beach with white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it a privileged spot for water sports and outdoor activity enthusiasts

The new Riu Palace Aquarelle is the chain's first hotel in the Caribbean to use solar energy and the chain has plans to implement this initiative in other destinations in the region, after having invested in photovoltaic systems at its hotels in Spain, Cape Verde, Senegal, the Maldives, Zanzibar and Mauritius. Thanks to the 400-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar power system made up of 795 photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, the hotel will be able to generate up to 470,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy per year. This green initiative will cut down the hotel's energy consumption by 5-10%, which will in turn reduce CO2 emissions by approximately221,482 kilograms per year. This step forward is part of the Sustainable Energy Transition Plan, under the Environment Pillar of RIU's new Proudly Committed sustainability strategy

The Riu Palace Aquarelle is RIU's seventh hotel in Jamaica, where the chain began operations in 2001. The chain currently has 4,274 rooms in this destination, located at the Riu Montego Bay, Riu Palace Jamaica and Riu Reggae in Montego Bay, as well as the Riu Palace Tropical Bay and Riu Negril in Negril, the Riu Ocho Rios in Ocho Rios and the brand new Riu Palace Aquarelle in Falmouth.

The international RIU chain was founded in Mallorca by the Riu family in 1953 as a small holiday firm and is still owned by the family's third generation. The company specialises in holiday resorts and over 78% of its establishments offer its acclaimed All Inclusive by RIU service. With the inauguration of its first city hotel in 2010, RIU is expanding its range of products with its own line of city hotels called Riu Plaza. RIU Hotels & Resorts now has 97 hotels in 21 countries. In 2023, the chain welcomed 6,4 million guests and provided jobs for a total of 35,808 employees. RIU is currently the world's 36th ranked chain, one of the Caribbean's most popular, the largest in Spain in terms of revenue and the fourth largest in number of rooms.
