Lanka Hospitals, the internationally accredited multiple award-winning healthcare provider held a certificate awarding ceremony for a group of youth who completed the professional caregiver training program at the Lanka Hospitals Training Academy. The students who completed the program are now eligible for employment as professional, independent caregivers in Japan.

The training conducted by the Lanka Hospitals Training Academy is a National Vocational Qualification Level 3 program designed to teach and train young individuals to work as caregivers to serve elderly, children and even disabled persons or those with special needs. The students of the program were chosen from the AKARI Language Institute in Sri Lanka, where they learned fluent Japanese and were subsequently recruited to the caregiver training program at Lanka Hospitals Training Academy. The caregiver training program was fully conducted by Lanka Hospitals Training Academy according to the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) curriculum.

'Previously when youth were trained and sent to Japan, the job opportunities available to them were limited to employment as caregivers in Japanese homes. However with the training received at Lanka Hospitals Training Academy these young students now have further opportunities to work as nurse aids in hospitals as well. This thereby increases employment opportunities for caregivers in Sri Lanka and overseas, and further enhances the much-needed recognition for professional caregiver services offered by Sri Lankans who serve both in the country and overseas,' Lanka Hospitals Group CEO Dr. Prasad Medawatte stated.

I am pleased to say that these young individuals are now equipped to serve as professional caregivers and the Lanka Hospitals caregivers training program is now open to the public for all those who are interested to serve as caregivers in Sri Lanka and even other countries overseas,' Lanka Hospitals Training Academy Head Dr. S.
