Terra Nitrogen Company, L.P. reported consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2011. For the quarter, the company reported net earnings of $129.8 million on total net sales of $201.0 million compared to net earnings of $65.8 million on total net sales of $142.9 million a year ago. Net earnings allocable to common units were $71.5 million or $3.87 per common unit compared with $48.3 million or $2.61 per common unit for the same period a year ago. Earnings from operations were $129.8 million compared with $65.8 million a year ago. The increase in sales was due primarily to higher ammonia and urea ammonium nitrate solution (UAN) selling prices. For the year, the company reported net earnings of $508.0 million on total net sales of $798.9 million compared to net earnings of $201.6 million on total net sales of $564.6 million a year ago. Net earnings allocable to common units were $283.6 million or $15.33 per common unit compared with $148.2 million or $8.01 per common unit for the same period a year ago. Earnings from operations were $507.9 million compared with $201.9 million a year ago.
