NORTH READING, Mass. (AP) _ Teradyne Inc. (TER) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $136.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the North Reading, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 75 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 88 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 79 cents per share.

The maker of wireless products, data storage and equipment to test semiconductors posted revenue of $654.7 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $615.2 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $479.2 million, or $2.67 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.29 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Teradyne expects its per-share earnings to range from 86 cents to 96 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $670 million to $710 million for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $555.2 million.

Teradyne shares have climbed roughly 8% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $73.59, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
