Tokai Rubber Industries Ltd. has released a new product, ‘Refle-Shine TW32' on October 1, 2012 in its energy-saving window film line called the ‘Refle-Shine' series. This product has not only a conventional heat-reflecting (heat rays cutting) property but also a heat insulation function. The company has successfully commercialized a highly-transparent window film product with a high energy-saving effect all year round.

Refle-Shine was first launched in August, 2010 as a film product for windows consisting of a transparent, nano hybrid multi-layered structure that reflects heat rays (near-infrared rays) from the sun and curb rise in room temperature. The company has successfully realized a high visible light transmission rate (transparency) for a film product by applying its unique technology to develop resin. It can ease the burning sensation caused by strong sunlight in summer while keeping the room bright, bringing the energy-saving effects as well as the higher air-conditioning efficiency.

This product has been used in various applications ranging from houses, office buildings, public facilities, to railcars. The new product, ‘TW32' is the embodiment of its idea to ‘apply the heat-reflecting function to retaining warmth indoors.' Indoor heat in winter is mainly generated by far-infrared rays emitted from heating appliances but the conventional Refle-Shine cannot retain the heat, thus allowing it to escape outside.

Therefore, the company has developed a film that can reflect (shield) both near-infrared rays from outside and far- infrared rays from inside in order to maintain the best room temperature throughout the year. ‘TW32' makes energy-saving possible around the year as it can enhance the heating efficiency during the winter in addition to the summertime air-conditioning efficiency. With an increasing demand for energy-saving in the entire society, this product can reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to preventing global warming by curbing the frequent use of air-conditioners.

‘Refle-Shine TW32'boasts the following seven performances: Has the high level of a visible light transmission rate of 73% for a window film. Maintains the essential transparency as glass; Insulation performance is further enhanced when applied on double insulating glass; Eases the summertime burning sensation and winter chills; Provides stable energy-saving effects throughout the year; Specially-treated surface on the interior side enhances workability and prevents damage in cleaning windows; Cuts 99% or more of the harmful ultraviolet rays; Prevents glass from scattering in an earthquake or on impact.
