Solvay announces the completion of the phase-out of coal as an energy source for its soda ash plant in Green River, Wyoming, in line with its commitment to sustainable operating practices.

The Green River site produces soda ash and sodium bicarbonate from trona, a naturally occurring mineral. By 2025, its overall emissions will have decreased by 20% compared to 2021, despite a 25% increase in production.

The Belgian chemical group recalls that, in November 2022, after acquiring full ownership of the plant, it announced its intention to resume construction of a 600-kiloton soda ash production capacity extension.
