SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM, hereinafter referred to as "SKT") today announced that it has been named a CES® 2023 Innovation Awards Honoree for 'Sullivan A' and 'X Caliber.'

The CES Innovation Awards program, owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, is an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in 28 consumer technology product categories. Those with the highest rating receive the "Best of Innovation" distinction. An elite panel of industry expert judges, including members of the media, designers, engineers and more, reviewed submissions based on innovation, engineering and functionality, aesthetic, and design. This year's CES Innovation Awards program received a record high number of over 2,100 submissions.

In the 'Digital Health' category, SKT has been recognized for 'X Caliber,' Korea's first AI-based veterinary X-ray image diagnosis assistance service.

X Caliber uses AI to accurately analyze X-ray images of dogs uploaded to the cloud and delivers the analysis results back to the veterinarian within 15 seconds. By removing the need to install a separate equipment and server, X Caliber dramatically enhances veterinarians' access to AI. Within just a month of its launch, X Caliber is already used by 80 veterinary hospitals in Korea, helping veterinarians treat animals with greater efficiency and productivity.

With the rising number of pets across the globe, X Caliber is expected to help resolve the shortage of veterinary radiologists and enhance the overall quality of medical welfare for animals.

In the 'Software & Mobile Apps' category, SKT, together with a social startup Tuat, has been recognized for its AI-based visual assistant service, 'Sullivan A.'

Developed jointly by SKT and Tuat, 'Sullivan A' is a mobile app designed to enhance the work efficiency of people with visual impairments. The AI, which has learned diverse types of documents in advance, reads and summarizes documents, and sends emails and makes phone calls by scanning business cards.

Prior to Sullivan A, the two companies developed 'Sullivan Plus,' a service that assists people with visual impairments in their daily lives by giving detailed voice guidance upon recognizing people, objects, and texts via smartphone cameras.

"We are honored to be a CES Innovation Awards Honoree as it recognizes our on-going efforts to drive human-centered innovations," said SKT. "We will continue to develop breakthrough technologies and services that can bring greater benefits to customers throughout the globe."
