Notice Regarding Construction of New R&D Building

Shibaura Mechatronics Corporation (the "Company") hereby announces that it will construct a new R&D building at its Yokohama Operations (Yokohama, Kanagawa) and add a clean room at its Sagamino Operations (Ebina, Kanagawa), to drive research and development in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, for which growing demand is anticipated in the future.

To push forward more efficiently future development and evaluation with customers and further advance the development of next-generation devices, the Company will construct a new R&D building, with a primary focus on a clean room for advanced research and development of front-end process equipment for semiconductors at its Yokohama Operations. The new R&D building is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2025.

By the spring of 2024, the Company will also add a 650 m2 clean room to its Sagamino Operations, for the development, evaluation, and testing of manufacturing equipment, primarily for back-end process equipment for semiconductors.

The total investment for these projects is expected to be around seven billion yen, but the impact on financial results for the current fiscal year will be minimal.

In order to achieve this, we will strengthen our foundation for the next stage in our growth, accelerate the development and launch of competitive products, and continue contributing to customers' manufacturing operations.
