In its annual reshuffle of executives, the company promoted a total of 143 executives, including 51 executive vice presidents, 77 vice presidents, one fellow and 14 masters. 'We promoted a large number of talented young leaders in the software and emerging technology fields to broaden the leadership foundation for sustainable growth and strengthen future growth capabilities,' Samsung said.

'We also accelerated the generational shift by appointing young leaders and talented leaders with technological backgrounds.' This reshuffle resulted in the appointment of one vice president in his 30s and 11 executive vice presidents in their 40s. The move is seen as an effort to prepare Samsung's future by appointing young leaders and carrying out a generational shift, following last year's promotion of three vice presidents in their 30s and 17 executive vice presidents in their 40s.

Among the newly promoted executives, many have successfully led technological developments, indicating Samsung's intention to overcome uncertainties in the business environment through strengthening technological leadership. Son Tae-yong, head of the micro LED team, was promoted to executive vice president for his successful development of premium products such as micro LED, 8K and QLED TVs. Kim Sung-eun, who led the development of mobile devices such as the Galaxy S series and foldable devices, was promoted to executive vice president in the DX division's MX business unit, responsible for smartphone development.

Lim Seong-taek, executive vice president, was recognized for his expertise in eco-friendly and premium products such as air conditioners and air purifiers. Kang Dong-ku was also appointed as new executive vice president, for successfully leading development and commercialization of the world's highest-capacity eighth-generation V-NAND memory chip and contributing to securing circuit element technologies for the development of the ninth-generation V-NAND. Son Wang-ik was the only newly promoted vice president in his 30s.

Samsung said the hardware specialist was recognized for his contributions to securing innovative and patented technologies that enhance product competitiveness in its smartphone business. Samsung also maintained a promotion policy for diversity and an innovative organizational culture to enhance its global competitiveness by promoting six new female executives and one foreign executive. With this executive reshuffle, Samsung completed its management personnel reshuffle and will soon announce organizational restructuring and job position assignments later.

Earlier on November 27, 2023, Samsung said it would continue to maintain its CEO system - which is divided into two sectors for semiconductors and for consumer devices - and established the Future Business Planning unit to help the company explore new business opportunities for future growth.
