Metaverse platform Roblox realized 30 percent higher revenue of $749.9 million in the fourth quarter. Gross bookings of $1.1 billion increased 25 percent over last year. Still, Roblox ended the year with a loss: 323 million.

Annual revenue was $2.7 billion and gross bookings came to $3.5 billion. The loss was $1.1 billion, mainly due to increased personnel costs.

Roblox generates revenue from the sale of its virtual currency called Robux, which players use to dress up their avatars and buy other premium in-game features.

Roblox continues to see the number of users rise, 22 percent in fact, to 71 million. They spent 15 million hours on the platform. That did see a slight decline.

The company expects first-quarter bookings between $910 million and $940 million, and a net loss of up to $347 million.

On Monday, the company announced another "unified translation model": an AI-powered tool that enables real-time translation of conversations in 16 languages. This will allow Roblox users to continue speaking in any of the 16 supported languages,
