The Bali Mandara Toll Road Solar Power Plant and the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) Building at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Solar Power Plant, both built by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), have successfully reduced emissions by up to 618.5 tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) from January to October 2023. In ten months, emissions have been reduced by an amount equal to the planting of 847 trees.

In detail, until October 2023, the 400 kWp solar power plant on the Bali Mandara Toll Road was able to reduce emissions by 414.1 tCO2e, which is equivalent to planting 567 trees. During the same time period, emissions from the Soetta Airport AOCC Building solar power plant were reduced by 204.4 tCO2e, the equivalent of planting 280 trees.

Between January and October 2023, the electricity generated by the Bali Mandara Toll solar power plant reached 524,197.8 kWh. Meanwhile, the solar power plant at Soetta Airport's AOCC Building produced 258,741.8 kWh of electricity.

"The development of new and renewable energy (NRE) is a tangible manifestation of PTBA's commitment to energy transition. In line with PTBA's vision to become a world-class energy company that cares about the environment, we are determined to continue to contribute to the supply of national energy while preserving the environment. PTBA is carrying out transformation to support the Net Zero Emission target in 2060 or earlier set by the Government. Our portfolio of renewable energy-based power plants has been expanded," said the Corporate Secretary PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Niko Chandra.

The solar power plant at Soetta Airport's AOCC Building, which was built in collaboration between PTBA and PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), has been fully operational since October 1 2020.

Meanwhile, the development of the Bali Mandara Toll solar power plant, which was inaugurated on September 21, 2022, resulted from PTBA's synergy with PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. On February 24 2023, PTBA and Jasa Marga signed an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for solar power plants in other toll road areas managed by Jasa Marga Group.

"We continue to strive to optimize existing potentials through collaboration with various organizations, in the hope that PTBA may continue to contribute to sustainable economic development," he said.
