Bogor, 11 March 2017 - Bank Mandiri, through the 2016 Mandiri Young Entrepreneur Program (WMM), has identified another 22 prospective young entrepreneurs with the creative potential needed to drive the national economy forward.

The 2016 WMM awards were presented by President Joko Widodo at IPB Bogor, West Java, on Saturday (March 11). The event was witnessed by a number of Cabinet ministers, Bank Mandiri CEO Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, representatives of the Indonesian Rectors Forum, and an audience of thousands of enthusiastic students.

The young entrepreneurs who emerged as the winners of the 2016 WMM competition were drawn from among 88 national finalists, selected from an original field of 5,064 participants. Besides sharing a total prize fund of more than Rp 1 billion, they will now also be able to access various Mandiri Group financing schemes, and comprehensive mentoring and training so as to optimize their business potential.

SOE Minister Rini Soemarno said that the WMM program, and the support it provided for the development of the creative industries, was very much in line with the SOE Ministry's SOE Creative Center Program (RKB). Thus, it was worthy of support as it helped create new job opportunities.
'Therefore, the WMM and RKB programs should work hand in hand, including through the involvement of WMM alumni as mentors and coaches for RKB participants,' said Rini.
Bank Mandiri CEO Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that the WMM program was intended to inspire young people to become job creators who are concerned about and wish to contribute to the nation's development.
'We are very happy that over the last decade of implementation of this program, WMM has been accepted and supported by all stakeholders and has contributed significantly to the government's efforts to double the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia,' said Kartika.
