(MT Newswires) -- Petrobras CEO Jean Paul Prates acknowledges that the company is a decade behind in the transition to cleaner energy. Despite this, Petrobras has recorded a 71% increase in its exploration and production activities. However, the company is now focusing on integrating hydrogen and biofuel processing into its refineries, while continuing its traditional offshore activities.

Prates expects oil prices to remain between $70 and $90 a barrel due to global geopolitical tensions. He points out that Petrobras is not dependent on oil imports from the Middle East, concentrating instead on exports to the Far East and Europe.

Regarding the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Prates clarifies that Brazil is not seeking to become a member or comply with the organisation's production quotas. Instead, the country has signed the OPEC+ Cooperation Charter, an agreement that aims to facilitate information exchange and cooperation without implying full membership of OPEC or OPEC+ mechanisms.
