NorthState announced an accelerated construction schedule for growth in the Piedmont region, adding more than 48,000 homes and businesses across seven communities by the end of 2022. Expansion areas include Greensboro, Kernersville, Oak Ridge, Walkertown, High Point, Thomasville, and Randleman. These communities will enjoy the benefits of a 100% fiber-optic network enabling economic growth and the ability to attract gig workers who want to live, learn, work, and thrive in the region. The expansion plans include bringing the High Point region to nearly 100% fiber-optic network availability in NorthState’s service area by year’s end. It also covers the majority of homes and businesses in Kernersville and Walkertown. Construction is underway, with plans for completion by the end of 2022. Some communities will have access as early as March 2022. The announcement was met with widespread support from local leaders who are eager to have a next-generation fiber-optic network to enable the gig economy in their communities.
