Bhubaneswar, 11/10/2011: The tenure of Shri B.L. Bagra as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) has been extended upto December 2011. Shri Bagra, Director (Finance) of the company was given this additional charge in February this year.

Shri B.L. Bagra joined Nalco as Director (Finance) in 2007, and since then has been instrumental in creating VISION 2020 for the Company and a long-term Corporate Plan. Besides, he has successfully initiated various growth oriented greenfield projects and brownfield projects. A Chartered Accountant, Shri Bagra has 34 years of rich experience in transport, mining, power and seeds sectors. Prior to Nalco, he was with RITES as Director (Finance), and is credited with developing the privatization and concession division there. He is also credited for being successful in putting up joint ventures and bagging concessions of and developing railway systems in Colombia, Mozambique and Tanzania when in RITES.

Beginning his career with the Rajasthan State Electricity Board in 1977, Shri Bagra has since worked in various capacities in organizations such as Rajasthan State Seeds Corporation Ltd, Manganese Ore (India) Ltd, and Botswana Railways. It may be mentioned that Shri Bagra has also been entrusted by the Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, the additional charge of Managing Director of Bharat Gold Mines Limited, in 2008.
