Michelin announces that it has reached "a new milestone" in research aimed at reducing tire abrasion, with the development of a "SAMPLE" system for analyzing light particles emitted by tires.

This solution enables particles to be captured, sorted, counted and qualified as close as possible to the tire, with high levels of precision and reproducibility. This analysis system, presented at Tire Technology, is a step in the direction of tires with wear particles that are bio-assimilable by nature.

This is why relying on reliable, reproducible and standardized measurements is essential, and will be a fundamental step towards better understanding the environmental impact of these wear particles, in order to innovate and design new solutions, says the Clermont-Ferrand-based company.
