As the tech industry gears up for the next leap forward with 6G technology, companies prioritize strategic hiring to address the evolving needs. The shift to 6G underscores the demand for proficient individuals in wireless communication, network architecture, security, and data analytics. Industry giants such as Qualcomm and Keysight Technologies are already investing in 6G production, highlighting the growing importance of talent acquisition in this space, reveals the Job Analytics Database of GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

6G Hiring

Sherla Sriprada, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, comments: "Technology companies' aim is to automate and simplify radio access networks for 5G/6G and investigate how machine learning can be used in 6G wireless systems. Companies are creating digital twin to support 6G research and the exploration of algorithms based on machine learning and data. They are also focused on R&D to design, model, simulate 6G technologies, and evaluate cellular systems to develop wireless protocols algorithm designs using theoretical analysis, link-level, or system-level simulations for beyond 5G / 6G."

According to GlobalData's Company Filings Analytics database, major players such as Qualcomm Inc and Keysight Technologies Inc were discussing investment around 6G production in 2023.

Keysight Technologies mentioned about investing in new technology initiatives such as 6G and quantum. Qualcomm discussed continuing investments towards advancements in OFDMA (orthogonal frequency-division multiple access)-based technologies and products (including LTE, 5G and 6G).

Sriprada continues: "For jobs such as network administration, testing and software development the firms are likely to hire experts in areas such as infrastructure development, equipment, network operations, and spectrum services."

Apple Inc's "Wireless Systems Engineer - Modem and 6G R&D" role defines rapid prototyping platforms to help prove ideas and specify RAN protocols and for next generation (6G) cellular systems.

Nokia Corp's posting for "Chief Architect - Core Network Standards" looks at developing technical concepts for 5G advanced and 6G formulate standards strategy for core networks and promotes the innovation of 5G advanced and 6G core network evolution internal and externally.

NVIDIA Corp's "Aerial Senior Software Engineer - 5G and 6G Digital Twin" role looks at delivering a simulation environment that advances the state of the art in innovating, designing, deploying, and testing radio access networks for 5G/6G.

Qualcomm Inc's "Senior Engineer - Cellular Technologies" role looks at active participation and contribution to research systems engineering activities related to the evolution of 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, and Wi-Fi radio technologies, as well as end-to-end systems solutions and cross-layer optimizations for positioning, RF sensing, Metaverse/XR, wearables, automotive and mission critical applications.

InterDigital Inc's "6G Wireless Systems Engineer" role will research, analyze and evaluate cellular systems for developing wireless protocols and algorithm designs using theoretical analysis, link-level or system-level simulations for beyond 5G / 6G.

NXP Semiconductors NV's role "Technical Project Manager 6G System Innovation" looks at contributing to 6G use case and system requirements and play an active role in 6G standardization.

Sriprada concludes: "In the race towards 6G innovation, strategic hiring emerges as a crucial determinant of success. With companies actively seeking talent to drive advancements in 6G technology, the future of connectivity hinges on the expertise and innovation of these proficient individuals."
