A KAMAZ ELECTRIC BUS TO BE PILOTED IN ROSTOV-ON-DON

Under its pioneering project, KAMAZ handed over an electric bus to Rostov-on-Don for one month of trial operation on the city's public route. To charge the electric bus, there is a powerful charging station provided by the operator of electro-charging infrastructure Sitronics Electro (part of Sitronics Group).

The project is launched as part of the agreement of the Government of Rostov Oblast with KAMAZ PTC and Sitronics Group on cooperation in the sphere of development of the city's electric transport and related infrastructure. Next year, the authorities plan to put 20 electric buses on public routes of Rostov-on-Don, and also install six charging stations for them.

The innovative KAMAZ-6282 electric bus is made according to the most complicated technical task of Russia's largest operator of passenger transport - GUP Mosgortrans and meets the latest requirements for quality and comfort of passenger transportation.

'KAMAZ is a top supplier of high-tech electric buses and is focused on the development of eco-friendly vehicles for the country's regions. For the fifth year in succession, the capital of Russia has been successfully using innovative passenger transport. There are 772 KAMAZ electric buses running on Moscow's routes. During a month, the same modern innovative electric bus will undergo testing on the roads of Rostov-on-Don, and we are happy that the guests and citizens of the city will have an opportunity to test the electric bus in real working conditions and consider an opportunity to further integrate it into the city's transport system,' noted Director of the Department of Passenger Transport of KAMAZ PTC Danil Ginyatullin.

There is a charging station on Lekalnaya Street in the vehicle fleet for trouble-free operation of the electric bus. The ultra-fast charging station of 300 kW can recharge the electric bus for 10-20 minutes. During a month, the operator will control the work of the charging station in the system of management and monitoring, and also to set up the electric bus charging schedule, to receive reports on the power usage and conduct online monitoring of the network and battery status.

'Participating in such projects, we stimulate the development of the electric transport in Russia and show that electric buses are a perfect alternative to ordinary urban transport. We believe that in the future all vehicles will switch to electric traction, therefore uninterrupted operation of electric buses now is our main task,' commented Adviser to President of Sitronics Group Armen Safaryan.

This is not the first joint project of KAMAZ PTC and Sitronics Group: the companies have already tested an electric bus and a charging station in Sochi and Volgograd.
