"Global food and beverage (F&B) conglomerates are showing interest in the acquisition of Mom's Touch, a local hamburger franchise, attracting attention as to whether the sale price of 1 trillion won will be digested. It is understood that global franchise companies, from 'YUM Brands', the largest F&B group in the United States, to Golden Gate Group, a large-scale restaurant in Southeast Asia, have been pursuing acquisitions one after another. Among them, 'Jollibee', a hamburger franchise brand called 'Southeast Asian McDonald's, started to participate in the acquisition as it began the work of selecting the organizer.

Jolibee Group, which operates a Southeast Asian-based hamburger franchise, is also a potential buyer. Jollibee Group, a local franchise company in the Philippines, acquired Coffee Bean from Mirae Asset Management for $350 million in 2019, establishing itself as a major player in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Previously, it entered the global franchise business such as Burger King in the Philippines and Yonghe Tawang, a fast food brand in China.
In that Jollibee is focusing on the hamburger franchise business, it is mentioned as a strong original buyer of Mom's Touch. In addition to Burger King in the Philippines, Jollibee secured a 40% stake in Smash Burger, a famous hamburger franchise in the United States in 2015, and then made additional investments in 2018 to secure management rights to Smash Burger. An IB industry official said, "Jollibee plans to spread the Korean-style hamburger franchise to the Southeast Asian market using Mom's Touch as a stepping stone."
The acquisition of a new business has always been part of Jollibee Foods Corporation's ("JFC") growth strategy. We remain open to opportunities, but are very selective and stringent with acquisitions. With respect to recent months, JFC has not been in any discussions with or given a bid for acquisition to any company either formal or informal.
