Imerys says it has adopted new targets this year aligned with the 1.5°C trajectory, reducing its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 42% in absolute terms (tCO2 eq) and its scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030, with 2021 as the base year.

"Progress towards these two SBTi targets will be transparently reported annually in Imerys' universal registration document and other climate-specific reports," says the mineral specialties group.

These targets across its value chain have been endorsed by the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and the World Wildlife Fund.
