HONOLULU, May 9, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a leaning pole on Hopaka Street near Piikoi Street, impacting traffic and parking in the Ala Moana area Tuesday through Thursday, May 14-16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The work to replace the pole near the corner of Hopaka and Piikoi will partially close the right westbound lane of Hopaka, with traffic contraflowed.
Private and street parking on Hopaka will be restricted from Tuesday morning to Thursday afternoon in the work area between Piikoi and Pensacola streets, marked with 'no parking' barricades. Metered parking in the far-right southbound lane of Piikoi also will be restricted between Kapiolani Boulevard and Kona Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day, marked with temporary 'no parking' barricades and traffic cones.
Flagmen will assist with onsite traffic control. Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the work area and aid contraflow traffic.
Motorists should reduce speeds when approaching and passing the work zone, expect traffic delays or find alternate routes.
