HAMBURG (dpa-AFX) - Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG) will present its detailed figures for 2023 on Thursday (10:00 a.m.). According to preliminary data, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) fell short of the company's own expectations. According to earlier figures, EBIT for 2023 is 109 million euros, which is around half of the previous year's figure of 220 million euros. A range of EUR 115 million to EUR 135 million had been expected.

HHLA CEO Angela Titzrath had explained: "In 2023, the war in Ukraine, geopolitical tensions, high inflation and increased interest rates weighed on the global economy and increasingly clouded economic development over the course of the year." This had an impact on the entire logistics industry and HHLA's business.

According to preliminary figures, Group-wide container throughput fell by 7.5 percent to 5.9 million standard containers (TEU). At the Hamburg container terminals, the decline amounted to 6.3 percent. The transport volume decreased by 5.4 percent to 1.6 million TEU./rgr/DP/zb
