Fujifilm, a leading producer of semiconductor materials, has completed an acquisition of part of U.S.-based Entegris. This will allow the company to operate more efficiently, saysHans Vloeberghs, president and managing director at Fujifilm Electronics Materials in Europe.

Listen to the full interview with Hans Vloeberghs here:

Semiconductor manufacturing is particularly important: by combining them, transistors and chips are developed. Demand for these types of components for use in electronic devices remains high.

In the news: Fujifilm has completed the acquisition of Entegris' electronic chemicals business, for $700 million. The acquisition will allow Fujifilm to expand semiconductor production and offer its customers a wider range of products.

  • Vloeberghs: "Fujifilm has acquired Entegris' High Purity Process Chemicals business unit. This business unit is complementary to our branches in Zwijndrecht. There can be synergy in terms of purchasing. They have the same raw material suppliers as us, or we use similar raw materials. We can optimize our procurement process."

Fujifilm invests 31 million euros

  • "The semiconductor market is growing globally but also in Europe. Currently there is a small dip, but by 2030 it will definitely grow at a rate of about 10 percent per year. It means more capacity is needed to serve our customers. With this acquisition, we are creating that."
  • "A few months ago, Fujifilm invested 31 million euros to further expand its branches in Belgium. (...) It will certainly take another two years before that investment is fully completed," Vloeberghs said. "Together with the new acquisition, we are going to see what investments they are planning. And we are going to have to learn together what is the best way forward to better serve our customers."
