Press Release
Empowering Sustainable Business - CUC launches new EV Charging Station Programme
Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC) is pleased to announce an exciting new initiative that reaffirms our commitment to sustainable and responsible energy consumption on Grand Cayman. The growing number of electric vehicles (EV) in the Cayman Islands shows that as a country we are all moving in the right direction to limit our carbon emissions and do our part to ensure a green future for our islands.
CUC is proud to launch our Electric Vehicle Charging Station Programme. Our goal is to have multiple stations installed and we are looking to partner with corporate partners and strata/apartment complexes to provide the community with more options to charge their EV's. The stations are designed to provide quick, efficient and an easy-to-use solution for electric vehicles, which enhances the Company's green initiatives and reduces your carbon footprint.
CUC will supply the EV charging equipment and will pay up to 100% of its installation costs, as well as pay 100% of costs for operating and maintaining the equipment during the programme, the monthly service fee for the participating property is CI$79.00 per charging station. EV drivers will use a mobile app to operate the charging station they are using and CUC will collect charging session fees directly from EV drivers through this app. This means that facility owners do not have to incur additional electricity costs in order to provide their residents, patrons or employees with EV charging service. The programme offers the participating property owners cost certainty in that it only pays the fixed monthly fee to have the CUC operated and maintained EV charging equipment onsite for use by the property's residents, tenants, employees, patrons and visitors.
By embracing this service, the community will be contributing to a more sustainable future and demonstrating the positive role everyone can play in reducing carbon emissions.
