TOKYO (December 14, 2018) - Bridgestone Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, today announced that it has been selected for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series, a widely recognized environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment index.

The FTSE4Good Index Series is a stock index compiled by FTSE Russell*. This index is comprised of companies that implement superior ESG risk countermeasures and is designed for the purpose of promoting investment that emphasizes corporate ESG initiatives.

The Bridgestone Group, Bridgestone Corporation and its consolidated subsidiaries, has set medium-term environmental targets to be accomplished by 2020 and is advancing efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and water consumption accordingly. In addition, the Group is moving forward with procurement activities aimed at improving the environment, society, and the economy over the long-term based on the Global Sustainable Procurement Policy, which was established in February 2018 to promote sustainable procurement. Furthermore, the Bridgestone Group Global Human Rights Policy formulated in May 2018 is guiding initiatives for ensuring compliance with basic human rights principals throughout all of the Group's business activities. The high evaluation of these and other initiatives for contributing to a sustainable society was a major factor behind Bridgestone's inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series.

In March 2017, the Bridgestone Group launched its global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, Our Way to Serve. This commitment organizes Bridgestone's CSR efforts under three Priority Areas: Mobility, People and Environment to improve the way people move, live, work and play through innovation and technology. Along with these Priority Areas, the Group continues to strengthen the basic governance, compliance and behavioral characteristics expected of any responsible company through its Management Fundamentals.
