Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) is up 3% in Milan, on the back of positive comments from Barclays, which has reaffirmed its 'overweight' recommendation on the stock and raised its target price from 4.30 to 5.30 euros, in a sector note.

The broker presents Banca MPS as its favorite among Italian banks, along with UniCredit. Confident about their forthcoming publications, he believes that 'positive fundamentals should continue to stimulate multiple upgrades'.
