From 1990 to 1995 he worked as a senior economist at an international investment bank in Frankfurt/Main in the investment research department.
From 1985 to 1990 he was a research fellow at the University of Mannheim.
He studied economics and business administration at the University of Mannheim.
He graduated as a Diplom-Volkswirt, equivalent to a master’s degree in economics.
Since 1990 he has been holding a doctoral degree in economics from the University of Mannheim and in 2009, after his habilitation, he received the venia legendi for business administration at the University of Stuttgart.
