Profile
Prior to joining Kennedy in 1997, Mr. vanHartesvelt was Executive Vice President of Westin Hotel Company where he was in charge of all development-related activity in North and South America.
He was also directly responsible for the Westin's time-share company where he oversaw all its sales, operation and development activities.
During his tenure at Westin, the company added 26 properties and increased in value by nearly $1 billion.
Prior to joining Westin, he was Corporate Vice President - Development for Wyndham Hotel Company where he managed all development related activities both domestically and internationally.
During the eight years he was with Wyndham, he also sat on the company's management and executive committees.
Wyndham grew from 17 hotels to 90 hotels, went public and increased $700 million in value during his tenure.
Prior to Wyndham, Mr. vanHartesvelt was President of Eagle Hotel Group, founding President of Hawthorn Suites, Vice President of Development of Brock Hotel Corporation where he directed the expansion of Residence Inn from 4 to 65 hotels and was a hotel consultant for Laventhol and Horwath for five years in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. vanHartesvelt has been a speaker at numerous hotel industry forums and a frequent college lecturer.
He was voted Outstanding Alumnus in 1982 from Michigan State University's School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management, from which he graduated in 1975.
Mr. vanHartesvelt serves on the boards of two seminaries: Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Bakke Graduate University.
