Hakim Ouzzani

Banque d'Algérie was created in 1962 as the Central Bank of Algeria when the Algerian Assembly enacted legislation which created the bank to define and implement the country's monetary and credit policy. In 1990, the bank was renamed as the Banque d'Algérie. The bank is managed by a Governor, appointed by presidential decree, and is administered by a Board of Directors, chaired by the Governor and two censors. Their mission is to maintain the most favorable conditions for economic development of currency, credit and foreign exchange and establish the general conditions under which Algerian and foreign banks and financial institutions are allowed to operate in Algeria. Located in Alger, the bank manages the fixed-income investments of the Algerian Government's Fund for the Regulation of Receipts, which was established in 2000 to insulate the Algerian economy from price volatility in gas and oil commodity prices.
