Andrew Barrett graduated from Cambridge University with a first class degree in management studies and physics.
He trained as an accountant with Arthur Young before joining McKinsey & Company as a management consultant.
He graduated with an MBA from the Harvard Business School before joining Apax Partners in 1992 as an associate and was appointed to partner in 1996.
After joining Apax Partners, he focused on buy-outs of growth businesses.
These have included Iminus, Brands Hatch Leisure, Dr Solomon’s Software, IDH PLC and Tracker Network.
In 2003 Andrew established the firm's Stockholm office.
Following his return to London he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the firm in 2005.
