Mercer, a global consulting leader in advancing health, wealth and careers, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), has announced the appointments of Jen Faifer and John Lapinski to key leadership roles in the firm’s Detroit office. Ms. Faifer recently assumed the role of Detroit Office Business Leader for Health, focused on the growth of Mercer’s Health business in Detroit and greater Michigan, reporting to Eric Bassett, Mercer’s Central Market Business Leader for Health. Mr. Lapinski has joined Mercer as a Senior Healthcare Consultant, responsible for client management, business development, and consulting to clients on a range of health and benefits related issues, also reporting to Mr. Bassett.

Ms. Faifer has more than 12 years of experience in employee benefits, having spent the past five years as Mercer’s Central Market Regulatory Resources Group Leader. In that role, she led Mercer’s Central Market attorneys in revenue growth and intellectual capital development, responsible for maintaining and growing market awareness and presence. In addition, she serves as an Adjunct Professor at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where she teaches a range of employee benefits topics. She earned her LL.M., Employee Benefits, with honors, from The John Marshall Law School; her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law; and her B.A. with High Distinction in Political Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Mr. Lapinski brings 28 years of experience in employee benefits consulting to Mercer. Most recently, he served as Michigan Market Leader and Midwest Region Health Practice Leader for Conduent HR Services, responsible for client retention and growth and profitable business development of the firm’s Health Practice. Previously, he was with Mercer from 1997-2002, having served as the Michigan Health and Benefits Consulting Leader and a Health and Benefits Consultant. He earned his M.B.A. from Indiana University Southeast, and his B.A. in Economics from Wake Forest University.
