There are several key trends that Currys PC World is predicting for this year's event:

  • Large screen TVs are expected to do extremely well this year with brands like Sony and LG ones to watch
  • More than 10 fitness trackers and smartwatches predicted to be sold every minute on Black Friday, with customers looking to get in shape themselves or buy a gift for their loved ones
  • More than double the sales (YoY) of Smart Home products predicted, thanks to the introduction of products like the new Google Home Mini and new Amazon Echo range, as well growth from the lighting, heating and security categories
  • Sales of Bluetooth Speakers are up 23% YoY and will be a key focus for the duration of Black Friday and Christmas as will wireless headphones which have been a strong performer all year
  • Laptops and computing will once again prove a key category on the back of last year's success, with a PC set to sell every two seconds
  • A 120% sales increase in drones compared to the same time last year is expected
  • Across white goods, American fridge freezers and range cookers are expected to be the most popular items, with over 20% more stock for white goods on Black Friday compared to last year

Steve Ager Group Commercial Director at Dixons Carphone, says:'Black Friday is still one of the key retail calendar dates of the year, with consumers looking to snap up deals ahead of the festive season. This year we have enhanced our price promise, matching or beating any price on the same product from other major retailers including online, and we are ready for it making sure we have more stock and more deals compared to last year. Kicking off with Why Wait? there will be amazing deals on from now until Cyber Monday, so everyone has time to grab themselves a bargain.'

Unbeatable deals can be found in store and online with a price promise from the retailer, promising to match or beat any prices from any other major retailer. Shoppers can also make the most of the retailer's Your Plan, the flexible, personalised credit plan designed to make the purchase of big-ticket items much more affordable.
