5 Murray Rose wins Innovation and Excellence Award and receives 6 Green Star rating

03 June 2014

The GPT Group's 5 Murray Rose at Sydney Olympic Park has been recognised by the Property Council of Australia (PCA) as a benchmark for high quality, innovative sustainable development.

5 Murray Rose was presented with the WSP Award for Best Sustainable Development for a new building at the Property Council of Australia's Innovation and Excellence Awards on Saturday 17 May. The development was recognised for its impressive environmental features, including one of the largest solar installations in an Australian commercial building.

The development has also received confirmation of its 6 Star Green Star as built rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.  This rating signifies 'world leadership' in environmental design and construction.

Development Manager, Andrew Quade said GPT is very proud to have received such exceptional recognition from the PCA and GBCA.

"The success of this building is testament to the high level of collaboration between GPT and our project partners," Mr Quade said.

The solar installation contributes 25 per cent of the base building's peak load, making it the largest solar installation in an Australian commercial building of this scale. This is the first time that the Green Building Council has recognised a photovoltaic (PV) solar system for this type of building with co-generation systems being the most commonly recognised.

5 Murray Rose has previously won an Award for Excellence in the Sustainable Development category from the Urban Design Institute of Australia.
