Signify named Industry Leader in the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Index
Signify achieves score of 88/100 and Best in Class score in all three dimensions: Economic, Environmental and Social
Top scores (100/100) obtained in Materiality, Innovation Management, Environmental Reporting, Operational Eco-Efficiency and Labor Practices Indicators.
Eindhoven, the Netherlands - Signify(Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, today announced that it achieved the status of Industry Leader in the Electrical Components and Equipment category of the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Index(DJSI). Our overall score is 88 out of 100 points, demonstrating the continued progress we're making on implementing sustainable measures in all aspects of our business. This is the third year in a row that Signify has been named Industry Leader and the third year it has been included since it became an independent company.
"We're extremely proud that for the third year in a row our teams have been recognized for our continued progress on sustainability, which is central to our company purpose," said Eric Rondolat, CEO of Signify. "It is very important for us to be named for our leadership and contribution to the challenges the world is facing. But we're also convinced more needs to be done, and I call upon business and governmental leaders to step up their efforts and accelerate sustainability actions."
In its annual evaluation, DJSI recognized Signify's strong progress towards its 2020 commitment as part of its 'Brighter Lives, Better World' program, focusing on Sustainable operations and Sustainable revenues. As part of that program, Signify has made significant progress toward its commitment to become carbon neutral in 2020. The company reduced its carbon footprint by 49% over the course of 2018, used renewable electricity for 89% of all its electricity requirements and generated 79% of revenues from energy-efficient products, systems and services. Top scores (100/100) were obtained by Signify in the categories Materiality, Innovation Management, Environmental Reporting, Operational Eco-Efficiency and Labor Practices Indicators.
