Waterloo, ON; May 16, 2017 - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today revealed details of its Application Provider Ecosystem designed to connect leading applications and content providers with Sandvine's communications service provider (CSP) customers.

Sandvine powers differentiated charging plans for dozens of mobile and fixed operators worldwide, and regularly shines a light on Internet facts, fads, and future trends through the Global Internet Phenomena program. Both of these activities have contributed to forming relationships with many of the world's leading application and content providers.

Sandvine's Application Provider Ecosystem is designed to accelerate the integration of these application and content providers with CSPs to enable mutually beneficial business opportunities such as new subscriber services, sponsored connectivity, revenue sharing agreements or even quality of experience guarantees.

Companies who participate in the Application Provider Ecosystem work directly with Sandvine to ensure that their traffic, even if encrypted, is accurately identified by CSPs. This identification is achieved through integration with Sandvine's network policy control platform via APIs, secure traffic marking, or other techniques.

Sandvine is already working with application and content providers today to deploy these identification approaches. One of the world's largest social networking companies is integrating with Sandvine via an API to ensure its applications are properly zero-rated by select CSPs. Additionally, a leading regional VoIP provider is marking its traffic for Sandvine to ensure that subscribers receive the desired level of quality for the service.

'The interests of both application providers and communications service providers are mutually aligned, but they often have difficulties in forming the relationships needed to reap the potential benefits, or they encounter technical hurdles to a rapid implementation,' said Don Bowman, CTO, Sandvine. 'One of Sandvine's key differentiators has been rapid service enablement. Our customers have rolled out new application-based plans in as little as a week or two. Our Application Provider Ecosystem extends that differentiation and leverages our extensive experience working with both application providers and communications service providers so that they can develop new business opportunities that not only benefit each other, but - importantly - subscribers as well.'
