Reliance Industries Ltd. has called off a multibillion-dollar plan to buy Future Group's retail, wholesale and logistics businesses.

The Indian conglomerate on Saturday said it couldn't proceed after secured creditors of Future Group's companies, including Future Retail Ltd., voted against the planned transaction.

In August 2020, Reliance Industries said it planned to acquire Future Group's businesses for 247.13 billion rupees ($3.23 billion), as it was seeking growth in the consumer and technology spaces.
