PT United Tractors Tbk : Promoting Indonesian Chess, United Tractors Collaborates with IDX Channel to Hold the 2024 Capital Market Chess Competition

Jakarta, May 11, 2024 - PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) collaborates with IDX Channel to hold the 2024 Capital Market Chess Competition (CMCC) at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Jakarta. This competition aims to develop the sport of chess in Indonesia by increasing public interest and allowing chess players to showcase their skills.

UT's CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto, stated this competition is a tangible effort by UT to support the development of chess talents in Indonesia and to broaden the scope and popularity of this sport among the public.

"This Chess Competition is part of our efforts to encourage the growth of chess in the country. We believe that chess is not just a game but also a sport that builds high strategic skills and concentration," said Himawan Sutanto.

The event was opened by IDX Channel CEO Rafael Utomo and Deputy Secretary for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mulyani Sri Suhartati. The competition was participated in by 34 teams (132 chess players) who are employees from listed companies or firms. The system used in this competition is a team match between companies, including the participation of the UT Chess team.

Additionally, the event was attended by UT-sponsored chess athlete Grandmaster (GM) Novendra Priasmoro, who participated in an exhibition and played against ten guests in a Simultaneous Chess format. Novendra has been a UT-sponsored athlete since 2017. At that time, Indonesia had only four Grandmasters. As a company committed to nurturing Grandmasters in Indonesia and boosting the popularity of chess, UT, through the UT Inspiring Youth program, is dedicated to providing full support through training and involving sponsored chess players in national and international tournaments.

This activity is hoped to inspire the Indonesian public to reignite interest in the sport of chess.
